As the founder of American Veteran Advocates, I enlisted in the Army at 17, proudly serving as a Combat Engineer and Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. After my service, I continued down a path of discipline and purpose by becoming a law enforcement officer, where I’ve worked in multiple specialized roles including property crimes, sex crimes, homicide, and human trafficking investigations before becoming a supervisor. I also earned a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, which helps me understand how the VA system thinks — and how to navigate it effectively.

Like many veterans, it took me years to even approach the VA for claims assistance. I didn’t know where to begin, and when I finally did, my claims were mostly denied. The frustration pushed me to learn the process myself. I started studying, networking with other veterans, and helping fellow service members with their claims.
